11/21/17 I'm always weary of modern southern restaurants. They tend to be a little too experimental to their detriment, so I tend to stay away from them. However, the seared pork chops at Lucky 32 were phenomenal. Seared pork chops tops with cinnamon apples with a side of cheesy grits and succotash. Pork and apples. I love flavor combos, and this one KILLED it. I'm a big fan of apple and pork, but this was the best I've ever had. The apples were just sweet enough to mesh well with the savory juicy flavors of the pork, which was cooked (seared) to perfection. The pork was so tender I could almost eat it with a spoon, while the apples were cooked in a way that allowed them to maintain their crunch and flavor. It was honestly one of the best meals I've had in awhile. Not too heavy; just enough to fill me up. Especially with the grits, which were wonderful. But the succotash was definitely the surprise of the meal. It was a great complement to the rest of the plate. Peanuts, sweet potatoes, corn, lima beans, and I believe carrots all came together in this sweet side that had a surprisingly good mouth feel with the crunch of the peanuts and the textures of the well-cooked sweet potatoes and lima beans. All in all, this surprisingly low-priced meal was definitely bigtime and left a lasting impression of me that will make it hard to enjoy any other pork dish for awhile.
