scouting report S. Be
11/30/17 Oak Steakhouse has several locations throughout the southeast and each one maintains the highest quality of meats. The best and simplest way to get a taste of their great meat quality is with the “Oak” Lunch Burger ($16) which blends two patties of certified angus beef with bacon, american cheese, caramelized onions and a secret sauce all on a brioche bun. The meat is cooked to order (med rare is my preference) and is seasoned with salt and pepper. It starts with a nice juicy bite of the beef complimented by the sweet caramelized onions, salty cheese and smoky thick cut bacon. The secret sauce from what I was able to discern is a mix of light mayo, tangy bbq and some spices. The sauce doesn’t over power the meat which is great because you taste the quality of the beef and bacon. All components mesh perfectly with the soft pillowy toasted brioche bun, which I think is the only bun that allows a great burger to stand out. The Burger is served with a side of crispy truffle fries and topped with briny house made pickles. This is the type of lunch burger that makes you think twice about going back to work and seriously consider staying to try their famous Oak Burger for dinner as well.
