Tropical Picken Chicken is a local Puerto Rican/Cuban/Island Nation restaurant in Wake Forest. They have a huge variety of local cuisine from those nations to choose from. Their menu is huge, and everything looks great. And their name is fun to say, so there are many positives here.
My personal favorite is their mofongo. Mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish that is made of mashed fried plantains, garlic, salt, and, at TPC, corn and onions. You're given an option of what meat you want with the mofongo, and I typically go with the pulled pork, but their fried pork nuggets are very hard to pass up. Seriously, with a little lime sprinkled onto them, the fried pork nuggets provide a wonderful tender portion of pork that packs a savory punch with a nice garlic undertone. When mixed with the mofongo, it's truly a Bigtime Bite. The sweet flavor of the plantains along with the soft texture is the perfect balance for the savory pork nuggets. The sour notes of the lime, which you have to sprinkle on top, really bring out the flavors of the dish and make everything shine. There are few things that I'd rather have at lunchtime than this wonderful dish.
