Al's Burger Shack. What's in a name? In this case, a very perfect description of a restaurant. Al's is just such an awesome little place. It just feels great to walk into. Makes the experience that much better, because their food is great by itself.
The Kenny J burger is topped with bacon, grilled onions, Cheerwine BBQ sauce, and spicy pimento cheese. The patty was great. Medium well, good flavor on its own. The bacon was crispy, just how I like it, and they did NOT skimp me on the bacon. Every bite of the burger had bacon on it, which is the greatest thing you can give to me on a burger. The grilled onions were a nice sweet touch, although there were a few too many onions for my taste. The Cheerwine (local favorite soda) BBQ sauce was fantastic. It added a really great flavor to the burger and the extra sweet flavor note was a good match for the savoryness of the bacon and patty. Then, the final touch and the one that made this an excellent burger and a Bigtime Bite. The spicy pimento cheese. By itself, I'm not a huge fan, but in the midst of this sweet and savory burger, it was more than welcome. The spicy flavor that it added was exactly what this burger needed. Sweet, savory, crunchy, and spicy. Fantastic burger in a great little shop that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique experience.
