12/08/17 Cellar Burger at The Cellar at Duckworth’s in Charlotte, NC. I’m always on the hunt for a great burger and have had the pleasure of enjoying many of the most highly acclaimed burgers across America. Luckily, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had is in Charlotte not far from the Spectrum Center! My idea of a terrific burger starts with the patty. First, it’s got to have fresh, high quality meat, and the patty needs to be thick - I’m not a thin patty guy because I like my burgers medium rare so you can taste the flavor of the meat and get the juices from the burger oozing out onto your plate. Second, a great burger has to have a nice soft bun that complements the burger well. Third, the accompaniments on the burger have to be on point. The Cellar Burger surpasses all these criteria with flying colors. The thick patty is made with a chuck/brisket grind that tastes much better than your regular run of the mill ground beef. I love the soft, warm bun that’s lightly toasted (you can see the burn marks in the pic). The accompaniments are outstanding, as it comes with onion jam and jalapeño bacon (you can also elect to add gruyere cheese). The onion jam provides a sweet and savory flavor to the burger while the thick cut jalapeño bacon gives the burger a slight smoky kick and is cooked just right (crispy but not brittle). The Cellar at Duckworth’s has some of the best food in town and is open late to accommodate the post-game crowd. I also love their tuna tartare, lamb chops, scallops, and steaks. If you’re visiting Charlotte and love burgers, don’t leave town without getting the Cellar Burger. It’s BIGTIME!!!
