12/29/17 When passing through (sneaky-cool city) Tulsa recently, I did some digging and quickly found out that The Tavern is an industry favorite. I had time for one meal in town, so I trusted the intel. Although for a 'tavern' it seemed a little pricey, I walked away very satisfied with my choice: beef goulash. If you've read my previous scouting reports, you're aware I was raised on fried bologna sandwiches. Well, that's not all I was raised on. Sometimes mom would make tacos, sometimes pasta, and more often than not, she'd whip up some Hamburger Helper © Beef Stroganoff. Where am I going with this? Just hang with me for a few more sentences. I hadn't ever had beef goulash prior to this meal, but as the waiter was describing it, it basically sounded like a tricked out version of my childhood favorite Hamburger Helper ©. Turns out, I was right! They handmade their noodles, add potatoes, carrots and beef and all of the ingrdients are served swimming in what I can best describe as a hybrid between tomato sauce and gravy. Very tasty. Very meat-and-potatoesy. They do it right, here. It was a fantastic fall/winter meal that I definitely recommend if you ever find yourself in Tulsa, OK
