It's almost too obvious to write up on Bigtime Bites, but considering no one has done it, yet...someone had to. And today, that someone is me. If you don't know to go to Café Du Monde upon visiting New Orleans, you're probably still using dial-up internet. In any case, this place is shamelessly CLASSIC. There are very few choices to be made, here. The menu is simple: beignets - basically a fried, pillow-shaped donut covered with about 10x your daily limit of powdered sugar - and coffee (and juice and milk and soft drinks, but just stick with what's tried and true). I haven't come across a ton of other beignets to compare these things to, but I have a hard time believing someone does it much better. It's cash only. It's a little less than $3 for three beignets. It's open 24/7/364 (closed on Christmas) and has been around since 1862. 1862!!! If you're not sold by now, this may not be the site for you
