scouting report JP82
12/27/17 MingHin is a great dim sum spot my Chinese in-laws love in the Chicago area, and when we were in town for the holidays we stopped by for a late lunch. Everything we ordered was solid and pretty authentic according to my Cantonese father-in-law, and for me, the best dish on the table was the char siu cheung fun, which is BBQ pork wrapped in a rice noodle. Char siu, which is BBQ marinated pork tenderloin, is one of my favorite Chinese dishes. The BBQ is different from American BBQ sauce in a good way. It isn't quite as sweet or smoky as your typical BBQ sauce, but packs a measured saltiness and savoriness into each bite. This pork is sliced up and rolled into a fragile, almost translucent rice noodle that has a good chew. BBQ pork cheong fun is a go-to dim sum dish for me and MingHin's version is definitely up to par.
