Kung Fu Xiaolongbao is located in Flushing, NY just outside of the main Chinese shopping district. This place is known for one thing and it’s in their namesake, Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings). They have three kinds of soup dumplings on their menu, but the one that stood out the most was the Crab dumplings ($8). The dumpling skin was smooth, silky and thin and held the crab and soup perfectly in place. You can literally see the soup and crab meat translucently hanging in the dumpling skin as you picked up each piece. The soup flavor was salty and rich. It had a fatty mouth feel but was mellowed down by the salty crab meat and soft dumpling skin. Each bite had that distinct crab flavor and along with the soup base, reminded me of a large hot bowl of soup stewed for hours with seafood in a pork broth. A touch of ginger infused vinegar on the side and some chili oil compliment each dumpling beautifully. Be sure to check out Kung Fu Xiaolongbao in Flushing, NY... it’s truly a Bigtime experience.
