12/16/17 I'm not a fan of Carolina BBQ. I know, horrifying. But I was raised on sweet and smoky BBQ and I can't forsake that for this sour stuff. So, I've avoided BBQ restaurants during my time in NC. But, when my wife and I were in town for a Hornets game, we decided to try Queen City Q out because we had eaten at the location in the Spectrum Center and the main location is across the street, so why not? I'm not one to usually order BBQ nachos. I love ribs. But, I decided to try these out. I'm so glad that I did. I've had maybe 3 other BBQ dishes that are better than this. First, it is a massive bowl of nachos. It would have been enough for at least 3 servings, and I did not expect that when I ordered it. Bigtime size. Then, the taste. Oh...man... Pulled pork, brisket, chicken, queso, lettuce, tomato, onion, and jalapeno. The meats were fantastic and each brought their own great flavor to the dish. A little sour notes of Carolina BBQ, which I normally hate, but it went so well with the queso, which did a great job of balancing it. The lettuce and tomato provided a nice balancing act as well, kind of calming the dish down a bit to keep it from being too overwhelming. And obviously, the tortilla chips that provided a nice crunch and saltiness to the dish. I could have eaten this for days, and not just because there really was enough to do that. The queso was good, nothing special, but I honestly can't talk enough about how well balanced this dish was and just how flavorful it was. At $14, it seems like it would be expensive, but for a Bigtime bite that provides enough for at least 2 meals, I think it's fantastic. Perfect pre-game destination that allows you to park and walk to the watch the Hornets play!
