I love horchata. I don't necessarily seek the stuff out independently, but I cannot recall the last time it's been available somewhere I've been eating and I HAVEN'T ordered it...with that said, most places that serve horchata tend to be mexican joints/taquerias. When I noticed 'oatmeal horchata' as a beverage option at Malibu Farm, it caught me off guard and I jumped all over it. This was a unique rendition and easily in my top-5 all-time horchatas, earning its all-star recognition. The oatmeal undertones were fairly strong, which was a very nice balance to the sweet cinnamon flavor of the drink that traditionally includes rice instead of oatmeal. The texture was way smoother (less lumpy) and more consistent than most horchatas. I need to learn how to make this recipe in my vitamix!!
