scouting report JP82
12/31/17 My wife and I had reservations at a swanky new spot in Savannah, but after checking in and waiting for 30 minutes after our scheduled reservation time without so much as a word from the host, we decided to leave and take our chances roaming the cold, rainy streets to find another place that could seat us on a busy weekend night. In hindsight, we were lucky we left, because we found this great little family-run Indian restaurant. The staff was warm and welcoming, and even though the place was bustling, they quickly cleaned a table that had just opened up so we could be seated with minimal wait - a far cry from the cool, hipster place we'd left that barely acknowledged us. And the food was just as good as the hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed the house chicken curry, which had just the right blend of spices without being overwhelming. It comes with rice to sop up to curry, and I got rosemary olive naan as well. Scooping the curry with the naan produced such a yummy bite! We also got the samosas, which were solid, and my wife liked her dish too. They've got an expansive menu of other traditional Indian dishes that I look forward to exploring next time I'm in town. If you're looking for something a little different than the traditional southern food or the newer crop of "hip" restaurants in Savannah, Naan on Broughton is the place to go.
