Another regular spot of mine in New Orleans: Midway Pizza. Fantastic late night meal destination after a Pelicans' game (especially one where Rondo drops 25 assists).
This may surprise you, because it surprised me at first, but New Orleans has quite a few great pizza places. It's one of my favorite things to eat in the city. And Midway is in the top 3 on my list in the city. They serve Chicago style pizza; super thick slices with lots of everything. On this particular visit, my friends and I split the Uptown Meatdown: pepperoni, sausage, housemade meatballs, chisesi ham, and applewood bacon. It's very properly named. The sweetness of the sauce, ham, and also a bit from the bacon is met with a lot of salty flavors and quite a bit of spice from the sausage and pepperoni. It's a very balanced pizza and one that I can always trust when I'm in town. Yet another Bigtime restaurant serving up huge and wonderful portions in the Big Easy. My friends and I ate two slices each and that's all that we could handle.
