Futo Buta is one of my go-to spots in Charlotte. It is great for ramen, rice bowls, and all sorts of other delicious bites. It is also home to what may be my favorite ice cream in town. After a bowl of rich ramen, this fun and flavorful ice cream is the perfect cap to the meal. And sometimes I'll just be walking by Futo after dinner elsewhere in the neighborhood, see that this is the ice cream of the day on the board outside, and stop in to grab a cup. The ice cream is pretty straightforward. It's similar to the cereal milk ice cream you may have had had at other places, but instead of using more basic cereals like frosted flakes, Futo uses Fruity Pebbles. I'm guessing they take milk that has had the cereal steeping in it and use that as the base of the ice cream. It is then sprinkled around the sides with Fruity Pebbles. It is cliche, but eating this does take you back to childhood. If you're at Futo for your meal and this is on the menu, you've got to try it, and it may be worth a trip in all by itself if you're in the neighborhood. My wife also raves about the green tea ice cream!
