Located about 2 miles from the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill, Al's Burger Shack is a bigtime post-game lunch or dinner spot. Nothing fancy about the classic burger: lettuce, tomato, sliced red onion, pickle, AL sauce, and American cheese. And if you're really hungry, the "Big Al" burger has the same toppings but with two patties. All the toppings were really fresh and it's topped off with a nice, soft bun. They cook the burgers medium-well here, but they are still juicy and have great flavor. Never had rosemary seasoning on fries before, but I was a fan after trying it. Don't usually like BBQ sauce on burgers, but I ordered their Cheerwine BBQ on the side to dip my fries and it was a great blend of smoky and sweet. Bonus off-menu report: I asked if they could do a Cheerwine float as it was not on the menu, and they came through.
