The Living Kitchen is a raw vegan place here in Charlotte. I dined here for the first time last month with my daughter Kacie. Although I am not Vegan I returned today with my good friend and co-worker David Kaplan. This place does amazing things with all natural ingredients in their natural state. One of my favorites is the turtle cake found on the dessert menu. It is a caramel and chocolate layered cake made with fresh coconut and cashews in a moist pecan crust. It is topped with fresh raspberries and shaved dark chocolate. Absolutely outstanding dessert for anybody that loves chocolate. It is light and sweet with just the right zing of chocolate goodness. Chocolate supposedly helps increase serotonin levels in the brain which produces feelings of elation and excitement and that's exactly what this turtle cake from the Living Kitchen does for me. And without any dairy products at all. It's a Bigtime dessert if you are ever in Charlotte even if you are not vegan.
