Have you been to a Vietnamese cookout or BBQ and ate some grilled clams? If you don’t have any Vietnamese teammates, been to their cookouts, or “Nhau” you’re missing out. Fortunately for me my Bobcats/Hornets loving homie, Hao put me up on Grilled clams with Scallion sauce when he came over to the house. When in the Atlanta area you have ITP options and tons of OTP options for Vietnamese food. I never guessed it but at Red Crawfish, a Vietnamese-Cajun restaurant in the outskirts of Sugarloaf Mills in Lawrenceville, GA you can find a number of Vietnamese flavored-Cajun Spiced Dishes. If you only look at the main menu, you will be ok but (Major Keys) you have to ask/look at the Chef’s Specials Menu you’ll find the grilled clams but if you look closely you’ll also find this dish amazing dish, Grilled Blood Clams w/ Ginger & Green Onion Sauce. If you love the aromatics of scallions and ginger, with the salty-umami flavors of fish sauce (anchovy sauce) you’ll love this dish. The peanuts is a nice finishing touch. Your taste buds are hit with salty, umami, sweet, nutty, and if you squeeze a bit of lemon-lime you have a tangy finish. This is served on a bed of Vietnamese leafy greens that you can take a few bites for a fresh/bitter flavor. Lawrenceville is quite a drive from midtown ATL but if you’re driving down I-85 towards ATL make a pit stop here for some seafood or just make the darn drive OTP. These blood clams are priced at 2lbs at $19.95, 3lbs at $25.95 or regular grilled clams served in the same sauce at $14.95, or oysters grilled in the same sauce at (6) $8.95, (12) $16.95. The sauce is amazing. lunch/dinner and OT (11pm on weekends, 10pm on weekdays), they'll even do takeout if you want to grab an go!!
