Yes, it's another chicken and waffles report. I can't stop. Big C Waffles is a food truck in Durham that very recently opened a permanent location (I actually got this at their grand opening) beside another place that I frequent. When I saw it and read was it was about, there was no chance I wasn't stopping by ASAP. They're all about waffles here. They have thin mint waffles, and even a bacon, egg, and cheese waffle (don't worry, I'm going to get and review one). Best of all, they just toss some chicken in the box with the waffle. Since I was in a bit of a rush and just wanted to try it out, I ordered their classic donut waffle with chicken. It's fluffy on the inside and just the right amount of crispy on the outside to give a little crunch. The chicken wings that came with it were...perfect. Fried crispy and juicy chicken wings. I throw that word around, but I really mean it. These chicken wings were perfectly fried. With some honey on top, the flavors came together as they always do in C&W for a spectacular meal. The savory juicy flavor of the chicken with the sweet fluffyness of the waffle and the added honey on top that provides a great balance of sweet and savory that has to make you smile at least while you're eating it. Overall, I went into this place without expectations, but it really set the bar high. In a town with another very well established chicken and waffle place, Big C Waffles' are truly amazing. I can honestly say that this dish was either just as good, or better, than the best chicken and waffles I have ever had and I cannot wait to try out everything else they have to offer. This is a bigtime franchise with a bigtime dish. And all for $10!
Also: I got Granny B's Kool-Aid with my meal and it was everything I want kool-aid to be. So much sugar it was almost syrup. It was just a very fun place to go with a great staff to run it.
