Fried Chicken at one of my absolute favorite spots in the country - Homegrown in Asheville, NC. Farm to table cooking. I guess I'm addicted because when my mom and brothers were in town, we drove the 2.5 hours up there for lunch then came back. And when one of my scouts was in the area, I asked him to bring back 8 orders to Charlotte. I'm not typically a fan of boneless fried chicken, but this is their specialty dish and the line gets long for locals and tourists alike. The skin is flavorful and crispy without being so crispy that it's too brittle. It's not greasy at all - I would call it more comfort fried chicken than your typical greasy fried chicken. The inside is nice and moist. I don't know how they cook this, but I love it. Get the gravy with the chicken also. Their sides are terrific and I especially like their kale. Order your dessert at the counter when you place your order and they will bring it to you when you're done with your main meal so you don't have to wait in line again.
